Art and Asanas
When I moved to this town shortly before getting married, I didn’t know a soul other than my fiancé. It didn’t matter too much because there wasn’t any time for socializing— I still worked in NYC and it ate up about 13 hours of my day with the commute. But, when I became a full-time freelance photographer, I suddenly had plenty of days open and nothing to do but work and go to the gym, which could only keep me occupied for so long.
Enter Lynda — my neighbor, soul-sister, accountability partner and amazing artist. As we got to know each other over the years, we’d knock creative ideas around, helping each other out with concepts and sometimes the nitty-gritty of getting our photo shoots and paintings done! She’s been a model for some of my sillier photo shoot ideas and helped me prop out more sets than I can remember.
One of her passions is teaching painting classes to children and adults through Art & Asanas — the art part is obvious, and asanas come into play with light yoga stretching to loosen up not only the body, but the mind. When I have a simple image like the one above, I’ll share it with Lynda and sometimes it becomes a basic teaching piece for her classes, which always thrills me! How fun is this?
I can’t recommend the Art & Asanas classes highly enough, especially if you’re looking for something different to do with your friends! If you’re interested in learning how to paint in a fun and low-stress atmosphere, check it out at the website in the link above, or follow them on Facebook and tell Lynda I sent you!
