THE BRIEF

Smith Design hired me to shoot photography for the House of Scones launch. They were introducing packaged frozen scones and needed imagery for their website debut and social rollout.

Smith Design handled all the art direction, food styling, and prop styling, both in pre-production and on set. They hosted the production in their in-house studio with their creative team directing throughout. My role was to execute the photography and capture motion-based assets that would extend the still imagery into more dynamic digital formats.

The goal was to present the product as both premium and approachable, whether styled in a breakfast setting or fresh from the oven.

THE PLAN

We shot over two days and covered multiple content types within one cohesive shoot.

We started with lifestyle scenes that placed the scones in natural, everyday contexts like breakfast tables, casual gatherings, and shared moments. These images needed to feel inviting while clearly presenting the product.

Then we moved on to close-up plated photography that emphasized texture, crumb, and warmth. I executed the lighting and framing to support Smith Design's visual direction while keeping the product appetizing and detailed.

I also captured a time-lapse sequence of the scones baking, which gave them a dynamic visual element that reinforced freshness and process. To illustrate the unboxing and baking process, I photographed images for animated GIFs for use across website banners and social platforms, offering movement and engagement without requiring full video production.

Smith Design handled final retouching and integration into the brand system.

THE RESULTS

The final library included lifestyle imagery showing context and relatability, plated product photography highlighting quality and detail, time-lapse visuals reinforcing freshness and process, and animated GIFs for digital engagement.

These assets supported the brand's website launch and social content strategy, providing both static and motion-based visuals that work across platforms.
