What’s new?
I haven’t checked in lately, and there are so many new things around here, it’s hard to know where to start! Most obvious is a new home page design, which should give me a little more flexibility to display new images I love, like this photo of 1800 Coconut Tequila. With previous designs, I boxed myself into only changing the home page grid once per quarter, which didn’t really work for my impatient nature, as I LOVE sharing new photos I’m excited about. Now, with the main image displayed on the left side of the screen, I’ll swap it out whenever I have an update and keep things fresh that way.
The 1800 image came about after I found myself with four bottles of tequila after a shoot for a client and wanted to test my new lighting. Yes friends, I finally made the jump to Profotos and couldn’t be happier! My Einsteins are still great for location shoots in restaurants, but I feel like a grownup in my studio with the Profotos. The build quality is outstanding, and I never miss a shot no matter how quickly I need to shoot for a drip or a splash. I’ve also been interested in creating interesting one-off effects in camera, which I experimented with here, making an angled reflection of the bottle and lime half. Pretty cool, and I’ll be getting back to playing more really soon, once I wrap up a couple of projects I shot last week.
On one of those projects, my little MacBook finally made its transition to the great beyond, so I’m coming to you from a brand new 16” MacBook and wow! So big! So nice! It’ll be amazing for my tethered restaurant shoots, allowing me to really get up close and personal with the images in Capture One Pro.
The first half of the year was outstanding for me with lots of new clients and much bigger projects than I’ve ever shot before. One of them will drop for Halloween, and I’m just vibrating with excitement to share it with you!
Hope you’re enjoying your summer so far. More soon…
